Darius's Skill Max Order: Q → E → W

Overview

Matchup Tip: Save your E to use After Darius pulls you in, and only use E for this level 2 onwards. E as fast as possible to prevent his W slow from hitting you.

Level 1: This is a matchup where you have to be cautious of the Quinn Cheese level 1. Darius will start Q in lane, but some Darius players start E and try to run you down level 1. Be careful. If you E and he E pulls you, he will ghost and run you down to kill you. Usually, I only cheese in this matchup level 1 if I E him from the bush when he doesn't see me, and then I run away quickly after Auto-E-Auto. This is good with phase rush because even if he tries to run me down with ghost, I am still faster than him. If you see Darius charging Q, instantly E him because your E will dodge the outer part of his axe swing, which is what makes this matchup so annoying for him.

Level 2: Now Darius has Q and E. You shouldn't be afraid because Darius E range is about the same as where you land after using E. Be careful of his E level 2. Usually I don't vault in this matchup level 2 onwards unless he pulls me in first. I save E strictly to use after he pulls me in as a disengage.

Level 3-5: The lane state stays the same, but Darius might get a bit cockier to make plays on you because they get really tilted in this matchup. If you want to play aggressive with your Es (proceed with caution), you will Vault Darius, quickly auto him to consume the harrier, and then run away from him after and he will miss his E every time if you do it fast enough. Darius missing E means you bully him for 24 seconds. Otherwise, if he pulls you in, instantly E him, auto, then run away and you will juke his Q every time. Good Darius players will run infront of you after pulling you in to make you vault backwards, so make sure to E as fast as you can after he pulls you in to prevent this from happening

Level 6+: A gimmick is that if you blind Darius and he Rs you when you're outside of his nearsight, his R will be put on a short cooldown and will be cancelled, even though his R animation goes off. This is helpful because if he catches you and you anticipate death, try to save Q at the end, and use Q-E before he ults, or Q-Flash away so that his R won't go off.

What To Do

Darius wins the matchup in close range, so the purpose of phase rush/glacial is to able to kite Darius and out run him.

Level 1 BE CAREFUL! Most Darius players run ghost AND/OR phase rush.

Be attentive and make sure to see what he is running before the game starts.

If he has Ghost/Phase Rush, be cautious level 1.

Wait for Darius to use an ability level 1 to see what he starts because some cheese Darius players will start E and run you down with ghost level 1 after you use your vault.

Otherwise, if he starts Q, you can trade aggressively level 1 with your Vault.

TIP! If you E Darius when he's chanelling his Q, which has a 0.75 delay, your vault pushes you out of perfect distance so that his Q damage won't hit you at all if timed correctly .

Level 2 onwards BE CAREFUL and only use your Vault AFTER Darius uses his pull.

If he wastes his pull, be free to vault him if their jungler isn't top because he has no gap closer otherwise & his E has a 24 sec cooldown level 1, which is double your vault cooldown of 12 seconds.

Trade Darius in lane with AAs and your Q Blind + AA in lane whenever possible because Darius can't retaliate unless he's trying to all-in you, which allows you to get him low in lane.

If Darius uses Ghost, you can pop ignite for nimbus to act as a mini ghost.

This trade is worth it for you becasue ignite is 30 seconds shorter CD than ghost is.

If he pulls you, instantly press vault to push you to safety and the key is not to hesitate.

NOTE: Good Darius players will instantly run behind you when he pulls you, and if he's fast enough, you will vault in the opposite direction away from your tower, so be careful of that.

Glacial is my favourite for this matchup because slows directly counter Darius's ghost and his potential to all-in you, so this is the one matchup I prefer glacial into, even in season 11.
